This young Métis artist spent time in surf-punk band the Shitbats before releasing three solo records. Recently, a love for classic country music has taken her from bucolic small community living to the bustle of Nashville and has parlayed a love of the natural world into a fresh take on classic sounds, breathing new life into the velvety vocal, tack-piano, slide-guitar-style that can accompany you through the swinging doors of a packed saloon. A supple and commanding singer whose malleable vocals range from hillbilly yodels to rock-and-roll snarls and torch-song purrs, Clyde puts the craziness of the world into perspective. On the third album of original material, Down Rounder, Clyde meets the challenge of leading a meaningful existence, confronting injustice and living in the moment with understated folk and country blues-rooted songs. It offers a calming refuge without dulling the senses, seeking transcendence in the everyday. Recent tours with Margaret Glaspy, John Craigie and Sierra Ferrell in the U.S. and Australia are an endorsement of Clyde's subtle, impactful songs and stories.
